Brief Bio: A fifth-generation Pittsburgher, Louise Sturgess has worked for PHLF since 1981. She served as executive director from 1983 through 2019, and became education advisor in 2020. She has edited more than 60 publications featuring Pittsburgh’s architecture and history (including Poetry and Art books by students and teachers), and edited 105 editions of PHLF News. She has helped create many of PHlf’s award-winning place-based education programs and oversees the Landmarks Scholarship. Through her work, Louise opens people’s eyes and minds to the lasting beauty and significance of our regions’s architectural heritage.
